Raised beds offer a practical way to grow herbs, vegetables and flowers. Raised beds expand the gardening possibilities, especially in small gardens. But they are also very popular in larger gardens, as the plants are protected from dogs and foxes and are also less likely to be attacked by beetles, snails or caterpillars. Raised bed as a humus producer

Raised beds made of sheet metal do not have a base. These raised beds therefore allow the soil to be evenly aerated and watered. If the various layers of compost and soil are filled in correctly, a raised bed turns out to be a humus producer. This makes the soil so nutritious that additional fertilizing becomes superfluous. Typically, a raised bed is first filled with branches. The branches become smaller and smaller towards the top. At the end, more garden waste is added and finally a protective humus layer in which the cuttings are planted. Different layering systems are recommended for different plants. The following system is recommended for herbs and salads: The bottom layer consists of branches, followed by garden waste, garden soil, compost and sowing soil or humus.

The advantages of galvanized sheet metal

Galvanized sheet metal is coated with a layer of zinc. The zinc protects against rust and makes the raised bed extremely durable and resistant to various weather conditions. Unlike raised beds made of wood, a raised bed made of sheet metal does not need to be painted or stained. It is always visually appealing and it is sufficient to wipe the surface with a damp cloth a few times a year. For wooden raised beds, it is also recommended to line the raised bed with pond liner before filling it. This is also not necessary with a raised bed made of sheet metal. Branches, compost and soil can be placed directly into the raised bed as the material is galvanized and protected against rust.

Easy to assemble

The raised bed is very easy to assemble. The sides only need to be put together with a few screws. The necessary assembly tools are already included in the scope of delivery. The ground should be flat. The raised bed can therefore be assembled and filled in just a few simple steps. The raised bed is rectangular with a side length of 184 x 90 centimeters. It is 60 centimetres high, making it the ideal height for growing and harvesting.
